The latest album feature friends and prestigious special guests, including the likes of Grammy award-winners Maurice “Mobetta” Brown and Charlie Porter; Grammy-nominated saxophonist Marcus Strickland & MOBO-winning saxophonist Binker Golding; Latin-Jazz living legend percussionist Snow Boy and Karl Vanden Bossche; and musician Corina Kwami, backed by the “organ trio” powerhouse of the group, guitarist and band leader Clément Régert, organist Chris Bland and drummer Sophie Alloway.

Corina Kwami performs at Swing North's Annual General Meeting
We have an action packed evening for our members and guests, in the panoramic event space at HOME in Manchester.
Proceedings will begin with an update from the current admin board, before members will nominate and vote for this year's leadership team.
We're thrilled to be welcoming Corina Kwami, who will be leading a discussion, exploring the history of swing dance, aiming to give context to help with our understanding and approach today.
After the talk, there's just time to grab some food in the downstairs bar or restaurant, before Corina returns to sing live with our friends from The Big Easy.

Described as a "modern Renaissance woman," Corina Kwami fronts ‘Corina Kwami & the Swing Selection. She has performed in countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia with her projects and dazzled dance festivals in the UK and abroad. As a swing dancer herself, knows how to put together an inspiring, energetic and diverse show. By adapting to what's happening on the dance floor, this excellent band has a big focus on storytelling, connection From Gatsby Age to Ellington, from Basie to the Jazz Messengers, Corina Kwami & the Swing Selection’ have dazzled international festivals (Berlin Solo Jazz Festival, Copenhagen Lindy Exchange, Nighthawks, Swingfest, Leapin Lindy, Fine City Swing, Hullzapoppi, Glasgow Shag Festival and Oxford Lindy Exchange) and London’s dance scenes alike. An accomplished dancer herself, bandleader Corina Kwami is at home with solo jazz, tap and swing dances - blending rhythms routed in movement and story-telling. Corina’s extended work also includes contributions from the arts to innovation, future cities and sustainability. As a recognized thought leader with a PhD, she has deepened pedagogy in bridging the arts and sciences in order to facilitate exchanges between these worlds. You can see her face on series for the Discovery Channel and Science Channel. She lives in London.

With Ghanaian and Irish roots, Corina has lived in 10 countries and worked in over 20, bringing a global, renaissance, variety to her playing and storytelling. Corina Kwami in her fabulous duo blend cultures, much like jazz,have done for decades. Her repertoire includes beautiful jazz standards from the 20s, 30s, 40s, originals, a splash of French, Spanish and Portuguese and toe-tapping swing.

Pangea, includes Corina’s duo and trio projects, as well as collaborations at the intersection of afro and samba with bands such as WildCard at EFG London Jazz Festival. Inspired by the continent we now know as North America continuous with Africa, South America, and Europe, this theme interrogates a world where identity is not defined by borders.
